Last night, we went to the Frontera Grill at Clark and Illinois. It's one of Rick Bayless' absurdly popular restaurants. It was a Tuesday night, and we arrived around 5:10pm with no reservation, and there was a line wrapping around the restaurant. The restaurant opened for dinner at 5:20pm, and the line moved quickly. For such a high volume restaurant, I was genuinely surprised by how quickly we were seated and how quickly our food came out. We ordered Frontera Guacomole to start. It was very smooth, and the avocados used were clearly ripe. I had the Classic Queso Fundido, which I scooped into soft tacos. My partner had the Ceviche Trio, which she thought tasted best when she scooped it out with chips. Every bite at Frontera Grill is full of flavor. The dishes appear small, but we were both very full and satisfied.
